All lessons must be pre-paid at the time of registration.
Lump sum payment for the entire semester may be made by cash or cheque. Monthly payments must be in the form of post-dated cheques (dated for the first of the month and submitted at time of registration) or in cash at the first lesson of the month. There is NO registration fee.
Upon registration a student agrees to a specific weekly timeslot. As with other extra-curricular activities, missed lessons will not be refunded or rescheduled.
In the event of a teacher absence, every effort will be made to inform the student as early as possible. Please provide your teacher with your daytime and evening contact numbers as well as email address so that you can be reached in the event of a last-minute cancellation. Every effort will be made to make up the lesson at the earliest mutually convenient time. If the teacher is unable to make up the missed lesson, you will receive a refund for that lesson at the end of the semester.
Duration of Lessons and Tardiness
Each lesson allows for the exchange of pleasantries and turnaround time for the teacher. Students are guaranteed twenty-five minutes of dedicated instruction per half hour lesson or fifty-five minutes for hour long lessons. Since each student has their own specified time slot, students who arrive late for their lesson will only be taught until the end of their pre-arranged time slot.
To discontinue lessons before the end of the semester, the teacher must be notified. Non-attendance to lessons does not constitute withdrawal. There will be a three-lesson penalty fee charged for leaving the term early with the remaining lessons refunded. Students may choose to take the three lessons (once the teacher is notified) in lieu of the penalty fee. The three week turnaround is to both encourage the continuation of musical education and to allow the teacher time to fill the vacant spot while maintaining their steady income.
Any refunds owed will be issued at the end of the semester. This is to ensure that your teacher has ample time to provide make-up lessons. Refunds may be carried over from one semester to the next.
Scheduled Holidays and Breaks
Each semester an official lesson calendar will be issued to each student. Please post this in your home for reference. This calendar does not necessarily follow the regular school board calendar.
Students are expected to bring a notebook (8 ½ x 11 or larger) to each lesson. Students are also responsible for the purchase of all other books and materials required by their teacher. Please wait until the first lesson before purchasing materials to allow guidance from your teacher.
